LITTLE, BROWN BOOKS FOR YOUNG READERS TO HOST AN INTIMATE GATHERING OF TWILIGHT FANS FROM AROUND THE WORLD TO MEET STEPHENIE MEYER

TWILIGHT INTERNATIONAL FAN EVENT TO CELEBRATE UPCOMING RELEASE OF THE TWILIGHT SAGA: THE OFFICIAL ILLUSTRATED GUIDE

US/CANADIAN FAN SWEEPSTAKES ON THETWILIGHTSAGA.COM

Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, a division of Hachette Book Group, will host a special International Fan Event, featuring Twilight fans from around the world. Ten fans will be chosen to have a once-in-a-lifetime intimate meeting with international bestselling author Stephenie Meyer. The event coincides with the upcoming release of The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide (April 12, 2011; $24.99).

Little, Brown is partnering with the Twilight Saga publishers in Brazil, China, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Taiwan and the United Kingdom to bring together each country’s respective Twilight fan. The fan selected from each country will receive an advance copy of The Official Illustrated Guide and get to talk extensively with Meyer, who will answer their Twilight-related questions.

“The one thing I miss most about my first book tour was the chance I had then to spend quality time with my readers,” said Meyer. “At an event with just ten or twenty people, I was able to get to know everyone a little bit. I could also more effectively answer each person’s questions. I’m so excited to have that opportunity again, and to get to spend time with fans from many different places and backgrounds.”

“We receive hundreds of travel requests for Stephenie from our foreign publishing partners every year,” said Megan Tingley, Senior Vice President and Publisher of Little, Brown Books for Young Readers. “Since it is physically impossible for one author to be in so many places, we thought this would be a great way to bring some fans to her.”

The Official Rules for the sweepstakes to select the fan from the United States (as well as one from Canada), including entry details and eligibility requirements, can be found on TheTwilightSaga.com.

MTV: ‘The Twilight Saga’ Continued Its Vampiric Reign

From MTV’s Hollywood Crush:

Last year we listed off the movies, TV shows and other pop-cult gems we were most excited for in 2010, and though the Wizarding World of Harry Potter got the top spot (come on, it’s a theme park), “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” was the movie we were most looking forward to. It’s been a big year for “The Twilight Saga,” and “Eclipse” definitely did not disappoint. As another year of “Twilight”‘s domination is about to begin, we figured now would be a good time to look back at the series’ biggest moments in 2010.

“New Moon” had hit theaters only several months before, but “The Twilight Saga” started 2010 off with a bang when there was reportedly some drama between Stephenie Meyer and Summit Entertainment over “Breaking Dawn,” though the “Twilight” author quickly dispelled that rumor. That was followed closely with producer Wyck Godfrey’s announcement that “Breaking Dawn” was gearing up to film the coming fall. We were all holding on to every will-they-won’t-they rumor (3D? CGI Renesmee? One or two films?), and it took the majority of the year for any of those questions to be answered.

While we waited for more “Breaking Dawn” news, Summit announced the “New Moon” release date and two “Twilight” stars went from dating to engaged. In February we learned that we’d get a trailer for “Eclipse” before RPattz’s other film “Remember Me,” and found out why Robert is bothered.

A month later we got a teaser for that trailer, and then had to wait six days until we got the full-length version. We were all pretty thrilled when we found out the trailer showed Bella’s engagement ring, but that was nothing compared to the excitement we felt when Stephenie Meyer announced she was releasing a novella about Bree Tanner.

While all that was unfolding, there were still a lot of questions being asked about “Breaking Dawn.” Three directors had been short-listed for the job, and the stars were pretty excited about them. On April 28 director Bill Condon was chosen for the honor. Bill convinced fans he was the man for the job by writing them a letter, and an official release date announcement came soon after. Hello, November 18, 2011!

But we weren’t the only ones with “Twilight” fever; Oprah caught the bug too! First she premiered an epic new “Eclipse” trailer and then showed some lucky fans an early cut of “Eclipse”. Audience members gave us the inside scoop on her special “Eclipse”-themed episode, too.

There was more “Breaking Dawn” drama when rumors hit the web that Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz might not be returning for the final “Twilight Saga” film, but those were quickly resolved. And, with a month left until “Eclipse” hit theaters, the soundtrack listing was finally revealed. As if we couldn’t get any more excited for the film, it was announced that Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner were going to be presenting a new clip from the film at the MTV Movie Awards, and we totally loved it when they did. It helped that “New Moon” swept the awards show as well.

By the time June finally rolled around, we had two things to look forward to: “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner” and “Eclipse.” We camped out all night for both, and both surpassed our expectations.

With “Eclipse” out, all the focus could now shift to the final film in the “Twilight” series. Or rather, two films. “Breaking Dawn” was announced as a two-parter and the second half would be released on November 16, 2012. Wyck Godfrey also leaked that Robsten are totally an item, and we found out “Twilight” could be the most successful film franchise ever, on top of the fact that vamps have made $7 billion since 2008.

Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg hinted that there might not be a birthing scene, but she quickly retracted that statement and instead started talking about all of “Breaking Dawn”‘s new vampires. There are a lot of them, and they’re pretty much all cast by now. Unfortunately, James Franco wasn’t one of them. But the most important casting announcement was that 9-year-old Mackenzie Foy would playBella and Edward’s daughter, Renesmee.

“Breaking Dawn” filming is now underway, and we’ve seen awesome paparazzi pictures of Bella and Edward’s honeymoon and the Volturi hanging out. Of course, we also found out why Bella is covered in feathers. The “Eclipse” DVD release got us looking forward to a whole new year of “Breaking Dawn” news as we count down the next 11 months until the first film hits theaters. After all, there’s soundtracks to be announced, awards shows to sweep and relationships to cross our fingers for in the meantime, and probably lots of “Twilight”-related fodder we can’t even begin to anticipate.

Midnight Sun Hoax Alert – Stephenie Meyer Updates

Seth has updated Stephenie Meyer.com with an important message, concerning Midnight Sun.

It has come to my attention through several concerned emails that many popular websites like MySpace and Facebook are displaying ads offering a chance to win Midnight Sun. This is a hoax. I would advise against giving out any personal information or even clicking on the links.

Stephenie Meyer Featured in Female Force Bio Comic

In time for the November theatrical release of “The Twilight Saga: New Moon,” Bluewater Productions announced it is producing two versions of an upcoming biography comic on best selling author Stephenie Meyer.

Female Force: Stephenie Meyer, scheduled for release right before the movie hits theaters on, November 20th, provides readers two options: a standard 22-page version and a double-sized collector’s edition that contains a variety of extras.

“We get to turn the tables on Meyers and she becomes the featured protagonist,” said Bluewater’s president Darren G. Davis. “And we are going to tell her story in a very fun, respectful and unique way.”

The comic, written by Ryan Burton (“Flying Saucers vs The Earth”) examines her rise to popularity, her “Twilight” saga novels, the launching of the successful movie franchise and her future plans. According to Burton, a very recognizable and iconic vampire will serve as the story’s narrator.

“It’s an equally strange and great feeling to write about an author of this magnitude, especially in a format that’s near and dear to my heart. I think it’s brilliant that Stephenie Meyer’s story will be read by both fans of her work, and fans of the comic book medium,” Burton said.

The alternate 40-page collector’s edition will include the history of Forks; the Washington peninsula town where her stories take place as well as other bonus material not found anywhere else.

The title is being drawn by Dave MacNeil and Vinnie Tartamella provides the cover art.

Meyer, Named USA Today’s “Author of the Year” in 2008, is the first author of fiction featured in the Female Force series. The series, to date, has published biographies on such influential women as Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Sarah Palin and Princess Diana.

Female Force offers a broad examination of strong and influential women who are shaping modern history and culture.

“Stephenie Meyer has captured the imagination of millions. She has parlayed her stories into a cottage industry and that’s why we felt she was indeed a ‘Female Force,’” Davis added. “Also, I’m hooked on the books like everyone else!”

Davis notes other prominent and influential female authors, business executives, entertainers, journalists, politicians and activists are currently in development.

The monthly comic book series, launched earlier this year, has drawn considerable media attention, including features on CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, and “Live with Regis and Kelly.” It has also been featured in such periodicals as People Magazine, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, USA Today and thousands of blogs and other media outlets.

‘New Moon’ Movie Tie-in Book

“Attention Team Jacob: Little, Brown has revealed their cover for the movie tie-in edition of New Moon, which features an exclusive image from the Twilight franchise’s second film. Taylor Lautner fans should certainly pick up more than a few copies (Those arms! That smoldering stare! Remember, he’s only 17!). As for Team Edward…well, at least the image proves that the moon is not, in fact, made of green cheese.”

A Note From Stephenie

Stephenie Meyer has posted a note to Twilight fans on her website:

“Thank you, everybody who voted at the MTV Movie Awards! It was awesome to see Twilight get so much love. Congratulations to Catherine and Rob and Kristen and all of the cast and everyone at Summit and everybody on the crew! You all did an amazing job and you deserve your popcorn!

Twilight fans are the best!

XOXO
Steph

P.S. You got to see a little taste of New Moon tonight, but I promise you this: when it comes to New Moon, you haven’t seen anything yet! Can November please come faster?”

Stephenie Meyer Reflects on Bright Twilight as DVD Looms

The Courier Mail reports: “I WAS observing this perfect circle of a meadow with a boy and a girl having a conversation. She was unremarkable, but he was glistening in the sun. He was beautiful. And he was a vampire.

“He was telling her how much he wanted to kill her and yet how much he loved her.”

So recounts Stephenie Meyer, the Mormon mother-of-three living on the edge of the Arizona desert, of her June 2003 dream that stirred her imagination to ask: what happened next?

It’s a question for which the 42 million readers of Meyer’s four-novel Twilight saga and viewers of the box-office hit Twilight film will always be grateful, because later that day the young mother wrote down the dream – and kept writing.

“The dream is pretty well chronicled in Chapter 13 (of Twilight),” Meyer says. “I can still see it. It was a very unusual dream and I’ve never had any like it before or since.

“I woke up from it thinking, ‘What would they have said next?’ I wrote it down. And it was really that process of writing it down where I was hooked. I wrote the first 10 pages, most of it with my youngest on my lap watching (TV show) Blues Clues over my shoulder.”

Twilight Star Kristen Stewart on Vancouver High School Set of New Moon

The Vancouver Sun reports:

Several dozen students and fans gathered at David Thompson secondary in Vancouver Tuesday hoping a for a glimpse of the stars on the set of Twilight: New Moon.

They were not disappointed.

A few lucky Twilighters saw series author Stephenie Meyer beyond the barricades set up outside the school cafeteria where filming is taking place. A single officer from the Vancouver Police Department is keeping the crowd in line.

The four books penned by Meyer have sold millions of copies and spawned an army of fans worldwide.

Kristen Stewart, who plays Bella Swan, was also seen on set today. Robert Pattinson, who plays vampire Edward Cullen, was not in evidence.

The halls and cafeteria at David Thompson have been redecorated to resemble the high school at Fork Washington, where the Twilight stories take place.

Forks High Spartans flags, banners and trophies (in a fake trophy case) were brought in to complete the look.

While the crowd was composed mainly of teens from the school, some older fans made the trek to south Vancouver when word of the shoot got out on Twitter and The Vancouver Sun website Monday night.
